Michigan marijuana reform moving quickly
Many Wisconsin residents are well aware that our neighboring state of Michigan has passed medical marijuana laws and currently is protecting patients and caregivers. Patients and entire families have moved from Wisconsin over the past years for that fact alone. Wisconsin needs to follow Michigan and remove patients off the battle field in the “war on drugs“.
As I looked ahead to what the Midwestern USA has planned for the cannabis plant, I found Michigan yet again planting a seed of hope for not only patients and caregivers, but also recreational marijuana users nation wide. It has been reported that The Coalition for a Safer Detroit filed the necessary petitions to legalize up to one ounce of marijuana for personal use in the Motor City.

Support for the reform of laws regarding marijuana is higher than ever in Michigan. Detroit is leading the way, and Wisconsin cities should take notice. The change in public policy on this once misunderstood plant is near and no expected challenges are to come for Detroit’s ballot initiative.
This is just one move as Michigan quickly moves for statewide marijuana reform. As a state and nation we need to take a drastically different approach to the hemp cannabis plant and embrace it for the economic, environmental, industrial, and medical resource that it is.
