During her 2022 Assembly Campaign, Ellen Schutt said she does not support recreational marijuana legalization and it’s dangerous and said is deadly, increasing being laced with fentanyl and there is no way regulate its safety, but will consider medical cannabis measures for people in extreme pain. – WI EYE Interview 10:40

NORML Op-Ed: Claims of ‘Fentanyl-Laced Cannabis’ Are Common, But Are They Accurate?

Now in 2026, she is making a run for Senate by seeking the seat being vacated by Republican Steve Nass (Whitewater).

Obviously so much has changed in the hemp industry since she was in office and Schutt did reply to a facebook comment I recently made shortly after she announced her campaign for Senate. I was also contacted by a Republican insider who works with Schutt and indicated she would not support moving hemp into the three tier system and we should consider Schutt a friend to hemp/HDC products.

Visit her campaign website and follow her campaign on Facebook to learn more. If you are a hemp stakeholder or consumer in the district, please reach out to her campaign and let them know who important ending the prohibition of cannabis in Wisconsin is to you.

Where is the 11th Senate District?

It contains the cities of Burlington, Delavan, Elkhorn, and Lake Geneva, and the villages of Clinton, Darien, East Troy, Genoa City, Paddock Lake, Sharon, Union Grove, Walworth, along with most of the village of Pleasant Prairie and part of the city of Kenosha.

Prediction for the 11th Senate District Election

The primary election takes the job. This is a solid 28+ GOP district.

Primary?

So far, Sandy Weidmeyer is another Republican who was declared to enter this race. The same Republican insider above also indicated that Weidmeyer would “rubber stamp” a Three Tier Hemp Bill.

Weidmeyer campaign website, facebook and twitter are live. I contacted her campaign on March 20th, 2026, no response yet.
