So there are wide reports around the world of the cannabis activists in New Zealand delivering a “non-lethal smoke bomb” comprised of a shopping cart piled full of marijuana set on a blaze and pushed into the police station.
The protesters gathered outside the Wellington police station about 6 p.m., when the “smoke bomb” was pushed into the foyer, according to Julian Crawford, an activist and candidate with the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party. Â The shopping cart had plastic cannabis leaves on top, with real marijuana burning underneath, Crawford said.
Interesting yes, but if you dig into the region and look at the potlitical aspect of marijuana reform, you will find this quite interesting. Â First what exactly is the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party?
The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party (sometimes known as the ALCP) is a political party in New Zealand (known as Aotearoa in the Maori language). It is dedicated to removing or reducing restrictions on the use of cannabis and similar substances. The ALCP describes current legislation on cannabis as being oppressive, and says that users of cannabis are subject to persecution. It compares laws against cannabis to the historic prohibition of alcohol.
Makes sense to me. Â You have to have an organization(s) working together. Â In Wisconsin, the legislative process leads us to our elected officials. Â Marijuana reform is just one voice away, we need to elect them. Â Now we have to ask who is Julian Crawford? Â I found his candidate profile from a 2008 election site and it sums up Crawford well.
The environmental measures of other parties are too little to late. The ongoing ecological prosperity of our species on Planet Earth is dependent on fundamental changes immediately. New technology will not answer our cries, the answer is already well known:Â Cannabis!
Cannabis is 77% Cellulose, that’s four times greater than any other plant. This means that Cannabis is by far the most important resource on the planet! Is has been criminally prohibited and subject to a multi-billion dollar eradication program under the guise of war against drugs. The illegal status of cannabis has absolutely nothing to do with drugs! For this reason Cannabis Law reform is the primary and sole objective of the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party.
However in parliament I will advocate for the rights of all Dunedin residents and will seek to further the aims of the constituency. ALCP are decent New Zealanders not power hungry pocket lining scum. Make an extra special effort this election to get everyone you know to vote for the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party. Vote for me, Julian Crawford in Dunedin North, I Thank You most deeply.
Julian Crawford, Opoho 6/9/08
Sounds like Julian Crawford is talking about hemp and cannabis with Truth, Honesty and Compassion.  Qualities I admire in a politician.  Now I know where New Zealand is, but was not as familiar with the Mariana Islands nor their marijuana movement. The islands are located south of Japan and north of New Guinea, and immediately to the east of the Philippine Sea. I was most familiar with the island of Guam located at the south end of the Marianas chain.
Now when did they legalize marijuana despite the threats from the United States and cutting of aid? Â I bet the revenue from legalizing cannabis compounded by the cost savings makes the “aid money” look like pocket change. Â I thought the USA was broke anyway? Â The recent reports are popping up everywhere.
Mana By-election candidate for the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party, Julian Crawford, is welcoming news that cannabis legislation is taking hold in the pacific region.
The Marianas Islands, last week, became the first pacific country to pass a cannabis legalisation bill through parliament. The bill passed despite threats from the US to revoke over US$10 million in aid to the Islands.
“Cannabis Legalisation in the Marianas will significantly boost tourism in the region as well as undermining the black market profits associated with Cannabis,” he said.
Mr Crawford hopes that other pacific islands will follow suit once they see the profound economic and social benefits of cannabis reform. “I believe that a prohibition free zone could be established in the pacific just as was done with the nuclear issue. New Zealand could play a key role in establishing such a zone,” he said.
With marijuana laws changing from international coast to international coast, the question is no longer which state will be left behind, but which countries will benefit the most. Â I am not surprised that this gentleman and political party are moving forward with reform. Â I will leave you with the five thoughts put forward from the other side of the world on topic we talk about everyday.
The emancipation of Marijuana is not impossible.
Reformation of the cannabis laws would be a significant advancement for any country. It cannot happen overnight but it will happen if the following process is adhered to.
1. Tick the leaf, elect the Aoteroa Legalise Cannabis Party to parliament with the Party Vote. No other party is prepared to change the cannabis laws so this step is absolutely necessary to the success of the following steps.
2. Immediate Moratorium on arrests for personal* possession and cultivation. (*Defined by government set limits.)
3. Establishment of Widespread cannabis hemp farming to provide an ongoing renewable resource second to none. This will effectively half the price of fuel and create thousands of jobs.
4. Complete integration of medical marijuana into the health system. This will allow researchers to develop the best medical marijuana in the world and bring to those in need.
5. Commercialise Cannabis and related products for regulated trade in the open and free market-place by license holders. This will allow an R18 age limit and other regulations impossible while cannabis is controlled by the black-market.
