Senate 28: Bradley (R) vs Lach (D)

Even though the maps changed and redistricting happened, the “political experts” crunching the voting data from the past have labeled the 8th, 14th, 18th, 30th and 32nd Senate Districts as ‘competitive’ in the overall Senate races in 2024. Only half of the 33 Senators are up for election in 2024, so we are stuck with many of them. That is important to remember because the comment “just vote them out” comes up in discussions again and again. As we have learned, it just is not that easy.

WisPolitics reports: District performance: 64.2% Republican and the dynamic: The new map paired Bradley with Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) in the new 21st SD that isn’t up until 2026. Bradley announced he will move into the 28th, which is the district number he was elected to in 2020 for his first term in the Senate.

Julian Bradley (R) Incumbent

Bradley comes out against recreational marijuana, but understands people turn to marijuana for medicinal purposes, his concern is he wants to insure it goes through the same process that any drug would before it is legalized for medicinal purposes and sent out to people. Not in favor of over regulatory situation, but before people are taking a drug prescribed to them that drug has cleared all hurdles.  – source July 30, 2020 candidate interview.

His campaign website of course mentions nothing about cannabis reform and activists in his area do not look to him as a leader on this issue in the GOP Senate Caucus. His campaign facebook page has not posted since April 14th.

Bradley was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 94 of the Wisconsin State Assembly and lost to Democrat Steve Doyle. Side note: This assembly district is on the other side of the state from where Bradley was elected to Senate. The “Doyle District” and what Rep. Steve Doyle has done attracted my attention in a few articles and that district has become highly competitive since Bradley last ran in there.

Bradley was a Republican candidate for Wisconsin Secretary of State in the 2014 elections. His opponent was seven-term incumbent Democrat Doug La Follette who easily defeated the Republican despite The Republican State Leadership Committee naming that race as one of 14 to watch across the country.

Bradley was also a 2010 candidate for State Assembly District 95 but was defeated in the primary.

Bradley Fun Fact: As a former professional wrestler named Kris Krude he was on the Jerry Springer Show.

Megan Lach (D-Waukesha)

Megan Lach for Wisconsin Senate provided this statement: I am for WI legalization of marijuana. As it stands we’re an island, and behind the times. It’s an opportunity to help people and boost our state’s economy.

In the event that we end up with divided government in the 2024-25 legislation session, the official formation of The Wisconsin Cannabis Caucus would be a must first step towards reform. The official establishment of this Caucus will represent the growing, bipartisan support in Wisconsin.

Although session as ended we still urge you to contact your elected officials. The top four action alerts are still functionable on The Wisconsin Cannabis Activist Action Network for you immediate use.
