Sheriff, Clerk of Courts will run unopposed in November

Incumbents are the only candidates seeking two high-profile Fond du Lac County elected offices.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff Mylan “Mick” Fink and Fond du Lac County Clerk of Courts Mary Karst will run unopposed in the Nov. 2 election.
Fink and Karst will be seeking re-election to four-year terms of office. Their current terms expire in January.
In the Sixth Congressional District, Republican incumbent Tom Petri of Fond du Lac is being challenged by Democrat Joseph Kallas of Princeton.
The deadline for filing papers for the fall election was July 13.
A partisan primary is scheduled Sept. 14 to narrow the field of candidates in some races. In Fond du Lac County, primaries will be necessary in Assembly Districts 27, 41 and 52.

Following is a list of area residents who will be on the ballot for state offices:
State Treasurer
Area resident Kurt Schuller, 104 Carolyn Court, Eden, is a Republican candidate for state treasurer. The office currently is held by Democrat Dawn Marie Sass of Belleville.
Schuller is one of three Republicans seeking the post. The field also features two Democrats, including the incumbent, and a Libertarian Party candidate.
Senate District 9
Republican incumbent Joe Leibham of Sheboygan will be challenged by Democrat Jason Borden of Sheboygan.
Senate District 13
Republican incumbent Scott Fitzgerald of Juneau will be joined on the ballot by Democrat Dwayne Block of Oconomowoc, representing the Libertarian Party, and Vittorio Spadaro of Lomira, who will run as an Independent.
Assembly District 27
Republican incumbent Steve Kestell of Elkhart Lake is being challenged by Republican Randy Meyer of Sheboygan Falls and Independent Jack Lechler of Kiel.
Assembly District 39
Republican incumbent Jeff Fitzgerald of Horicon will run unopposed.
Assembly District 41
Republican incumbent Joan Ballweg of Markesan is being challenged by Scott Milheiser, a Democratic candidate from Fremont; Republican Nicholas Quade of Markesan; and Independent Jay Selthofner of Green Lake.
Assembly District 52
Several Fond du Lac residents have thrown their hats into the race for the seat being vacated by the retiring John Townsend.
Paul Czisny, 260 Sheboygan St., is running as a Democrat. Republican candidates are Tim Lakin, 7 Aurora Lane, and Jeremy Thiesfeldt, 604 Sunset Lane.
Assembly District 59
Republican incumbent Daniel LeMahieu of Cascade is running unopposed.
