Wood County Spring 2019 Marijuana Referendum Results

Voters in Wood County don’t mind the idea of medical marijuana, but don’t want legalized recreational use of the drug. Voters in Wood County overwhelmingly (70%+) approved an advisory referendum asking whether marijuana should be legal for medicinal purposes, 11,597-4,757.

Meanwhile, roughly 60 percent of Wood County voters rejected the idea of recreational marijuana use. During the April 2 vote, 9,861 people said recreational use of the drug should not be legalized for adults 21 or older, while 6,665 thought it should be.

The non-binding referendum questions were advisory in nature, and placed on the ballot by the Wood County Board to gauge public input on the issue.
