Marijuana campaign hits three parades in three days

State Assembly District 41 is a truly diverse region of Wisconsin covering multiple counties.  I enjoyed growing up in and being part of this community.  An intelligent, skilled workforce and strong family values are some of the foundations our country was built upon, those virtues are found everywhere you look in our communities.

In my volunteer work I found the majority of the population is well receptive when you approach them and speak about the reform of marijuana laws.  In fact, the encouragement from community leaders, patients, citizens and farmers in my district is one of the many reasons I decided to run for State Assembly.

The Friends of Jay Selthofner recently marched in the Markesan June Dairy Days parade on June 12th, 2010.  Democratic candidate Scott Milheiser and Republican Nicholas Quade were also at the parade, no doubt to capture support from the home town crowd of incumbent Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan).

My past work as a financial representative and recent volunteer has led me to speak to a large variety of voters over the past several months. Those folks cheered loudly as they saw the Friends of Jay Selthofner and the green leaf walking down the road.  Old friends from school days came out to  the road and shook my hand and told me “great job”.  Other business associates gave road side introductions to their extended families of the “marijuana man” running for office.

We are planning summer events,  fundraising and will keep you posted to the agenda and schedule shorty.  Sign up for our RSS Feed and receive email updates as soon as they become available.  Volunteers are starting to roll in and people are asking what can they do to help.  Immediately we need bodies. Marching in three parades in three days will be no easy task, but we will do it.

With your help we can take advantage of these opportunities to bring additional awareness about the issue and need for reform of marijuana laws.  With your help you can show others how to stand up for what is right and be part of the change we need.  With your help, I can get elected to state assembly on the platform of reform for marijuana laws.

I know holiday times are special with family and mine will be with me, please bring yours also.  Instead of just watching a parade this year, come be part of one and help make a difference.  Be part of the change you want to see.

The Friends of Jay Selthofner would also like to thank a special volunteer, Laura, who will be at the Mt. Morris Parade (11am) and festival on July 3rd.  Her work in the campaign and her community continues to be inspiring to all.

Independence Day is going to celebrated throughout our district in many different ways and we ask you to please be safe.  Help prevent drunk driving deaths and do not let others drink and drive.  Marijuana is safer a choice than alcohol as my campaign points out and supporting that legalization of marijuana will lead to less drunk driving deaths on our roads.

Supporters from Wild Rose, Bloomfield, Redgranite, Neshkoro, Coloma, Lohrville, Poy Sippi, Marquette, Kingston, Markesan, Fairwater, Ripon, Berlin, Alto, Manchester and Fremont will be out in their communities promoting the democratic process, they will be out supporting the change we need, they will be out supporting the “Friends of Jay Selthofner”.
