Democrats Circulate LRB-4361, a Legalization Bill, for co-sponsorship

Wisconsin is ready to grow our future by legalizing cannabis with LRB-4361. Hopefully now the whole Democratic Caucus is on board with this idea. Republicans have yet to sign onto any recreational marijuana legislation and Republican Leadership has announced they want the FDA and Federal Government to run a medical marijuana program vs some rouge state like Wisconsin.

Will this latest version attract one Republican co-sponsor? Will Republicans abandon their version of medical marijuana this session and present their own version of adult use cannabis reform? Who knows.

What we do know is that the Democrat cannabis legalization bill has medical marijuana components in it and indicators from the few friendly Republican cannabis elected officials is that they will not support this bill, citing to high of tax and also differences in how to use the tax generated from this.

In my eyes, all pressure is on Republicans to offer some bill to end the prohibition of cannabis in Wisconsin and the their own leadership has sent them to the drawing boards on this issue by taking medical marijuana off the table.

Wisconsin is ready to grow our future with LRB-4361!

The Democrats have presented LRB-4361 for the 2021-22 legislative session. This bill should help build safe communities and a healthy future. Agricultural business will bloom and the economic benefits will be felt by Wisconsinites as the state legalizes cannabis. The legislation is currently being circulated for co-sponsorship.

Over 60% of Wisconsinites support total legalization and 83% support medical marijuana.

NOW is the time to support this important piece of legislation by contacting your Senator and Assembly Representative today. The seeds we plant will dictate the future of our state. LRB-4361 does just that. This bill includes:

  • Full recreational use of cannabis for adults age 21 and older; medicinal use for persons age 18 and older that have been diagnosed with or are undergoing treatment for a debilitating medical condition.
  • Allows a Wisconsin resident to grow their own marijuana plants for personal use.
  • Establishes a non-lapsible trust fund designated the “Community Reinvestment Fund” to support communities most impacted by prohibition.
  • And much more…

Send your lawmakers a clear message that NOW is the time for Wisconsin to legalize cannabis.
