Gubernatorial Candidate endorses Selthofner’s stimulus sense on Wisconsin Public Radio

In a recent radio interview with Wisconsin Public Radio on September 7th, 2010 entitled “Lesser known gubernatorial candidates stumping across Wisconsin for chance to lead the state” the topic of marijuana came up among the conversation.  Well to be fair, drug policy reform, business cooperatives, networking and different levels of experience also took up the three minute segment covering these Wisconsin Candidates for Governor.

The Selthofner campaign and the candidate himself show some similarity to these Gubernatorial candidates and their respective platforms and background. Scott Paterick, another Republican amongst Neumann and Walker says his lack of experience is actually an asset.  Having a vast network and business experience leads to a big rolodex, and Paterick is not speaking about anyone’s watch, but rather the contacts he has built on the global scale.  An admitted lack of political experience could be said for Selthofner, depending on your definition of political and experience.  Selthofner’s past work in the farming, small business, credit, insurance and investment industry has lead to experiences of all types, including lobbying for reform, which some may consider politics.  Selthofner’s rolodex of contacts is amazing and would help Wisconsin move forward towards economic recovery.

Although nothing official yet from the Tim John campaign, it is thought that he would support reform for marijuana laws.  John, who is the great grandson of the Miller Brewing Company founder.  With the background of prohibition facts entrenched with the alcohol industry, it seems that John’s call for a business cooperative and creating jobs would also include ending prohibition of marijuana, but again this is only our speculation at this point. No one really opposes Industrial Hemp, or we would also ban imports of hemp and hemp products into the United States also.  The Democrat Tom Barret has been on record for support of medical marijuana.

James James is originally from Markesan, which is Selthofner’s district.  Common Sense seems to be the theme of this campaign.  He mentions drug testing as part of welfare reform and a more accountable government through transperancy.

Jim Langer is running as an Independent, as is Selthofner.  The Langer segment closed out reminding us the public voters are ultimately the boss of elected officials.  Langer and Selthofner had met previously to discuss marijuana reform and Langer understood it made sense.  Langer comment about legalizing marijuana on Wisconsin Public Radio to Gil Halsted “Why don’t we allow let our farmers to grow it and benefit and take the crime element out of it.  It’s a win-win situation.  You can tax it, you can regulate it.  It is just like ending prohibition and starting up with alcohol industry, you will even take the bootleggers out of it.”

As Selthofner also knows and each Candidate for Governor agreed, they all feel marginalized by campaign finance policy allowing candidates with the most money to get their message out there to more people .
