AG Candidate Eric Toney (R) on marijuana in 2026

Wisconsin Attorney General candidate Eric Toney joins DrydenWire founder Ben Dryden for a live, unscripted conversation on DrydenWire Live.

Craig Sutherland, owner of Sutherland CBD and advisory council member of the newly formed Wisconsin Coalition for Cannabis Reform (WCCR) , was able to participate on the live chat and insert a cannabis question. At 40:45 mark Craig inserted his question about cannabis reform and Toney, the current district attorney of Fond du Lac County and current Wisconsin Attorney General candidate, answers the question and leads off with the passing of the federal hemp bill, then goes onto talk about rescheduling and the number one priority has to be protecting kids. Last time Toney took the state wide stage in an AG race was 2022 and there is a video posted on The Wisconsin Cannabis Activist Network that basically states this from Toney. (and remember this was a close primary race between him and Jarchow, with .5% (or only 2857 votes).

Adam Jarchow was one of the first Republicans to be vocal about the change needed in the cannabis laws in Wisconsin. As an assembly representative he authored a bill to decriminalize marijuana statewide in Wisconsin. The GOP prohibition candidate and special interest group Wisconsin Family Council are attacking Jarchow for his views on cannabis and calling him a supporter of legalization…. Are they right?

Eric Toney is the GOP prohibition candidate attacking Jarchow for his views. Toney authored and published an op ed piece entitled What’s Adam Jarchow smoking? which Toney said ““In the debate I won against my GOP primary opponents one thing was clear; Adam Jarchow is trying to hide his support for legalizing recreational marijuana. As a front-line prosecutor for nearly a decade, I’ve prosecuted many violent crimes that involve marijuana and I’m firmly opposed to legalizing this drug.”

“Team Toney” is so concerned about Adam Jarchow and his view that at the time of that 2022 article the only video Team Toney has posted on a campaign facebook page is a 2 second blip of Jarchow saying “We should legalize it and just be done with it”.

So far no other Republican candidate as emerged for Wisconsin Attorney General for the 2026 election.
