Republicans in Sheboygan share platform of Industrial Hemp

We all know that the Independent Campaign of Jay Selthofner is hemp friendly.  What the general public is sometimes lacking is a the true knowledge and power of this plant and just how many other potential politicians are poised to use pot as a platform.  With 70+ years of negative propaganda quickly washed away by talking about hemp cannabis with truth, honesty and compassion, we will hear more about marijuana as fall comes and politicians try to harvest as many votes as possible.

In a recent article by the Sheboygan Press, another hemp friendly candidate emerges amongst the many seeking election this fall.  Selthofner, an Independent Candidate, has spent a great deal of time educating folks in his district on Industrial Hemp.  Recently Selthofner was asked to prioritize his non-marijuana priorities in a spontaneous request.  Selthofner quickly spouted “JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, JOBS! We need jobs and our economy to heal.  Then lower taxes, property taxes in specific.  Smaller more efficient government through less regulations, especially the federal impositions on states rights, alternative fuels, energy development and welfare reform, plus the list the district has started for me is growing longer everyday.”

Kevin MatiChek, 29, of Sheboygan, supports similar principles centered on lower taxes and fewer government regulations. But he deviates from his fellow Republican in his desire to push for more environmental-minded initiatives — such as local and organic food production, aquaponic farming and industrial hemp production — as a way to stimulate job growth.

MatiChek said his platform has other conservatives kidding him that he’s a “confused, fiscally conservative, Kennedy Democrat,” but he prides himself on being independent minded, and views agriculture as a way to create jobs, cut costs for consumers, keep money in the community and increase state revenues.

“I believe these things would be a great way to bring in new streams of revenue for the state and to balance the budget,” said MatiChek, who drives a Volkswagen Jetta powered by homemade biodiesel.

MatiChek would work to lower taxes and establish new industries, including hemp growers and processors, in Wisconsin. He’s also pledged to return half his assembly salary back to taxpayers.

“Being an assemblyman should be about civic duty, not a paycheck,” he said.
