Tittl, LeMahieu talk medical marijuana

| | |

I was going over my records from past lobbying experiences in addition to remembering Rep. Tittl. He told me he was one of the first Republicans to call for a public hearing on the medical marijuana bill. Republicans, no politicians tell us a great deal….by their words, demeanor, actions and advice. The time I spent in his office was positive and I was excited to see Rep. Tittl make the news again on the subject of marijuana reform.

As I work with Field Activists throughout the state, I advise them to attend the local listening sessions of their elected officials and engage them in cannabis conversations and education them about marijuana reform with an emphasis on active legislation in Wisconsin. I spend time working with field activists to prepare them for the meetings; in return I ask they report back with what they encountered. Many times the news or main stream media is not there……in this case, they were.

The Herald Times Reported covered the Listening Session of Senator LeMahieu and Rep Tittl by reporting:

MANITOWOC – A listening session hosted by State Rep. Paul Tittl, R-Manitowoc, and Republican State Sen. Devin LeMahieu Monday was dominated by talks of legalizing medical marijuana.

Out of the 25 attendees to Monday’s listening session, nine people voiced their support of legalizing medical marijuana in the state. Many cited mental health issues they believed would be better treated with cannabis oil than with pharmaceuticals.

It seems there is a numerous amount of people interested in passing medical marijuana in the State of Wisconsin,” Tittl said. “I think it is to the point where we should have the conversation — I’m not saying whether I am for it or against it — but I think more information does need to come out on both sides.

There is a lot of interest on both sides of the issue,” LeMahieu said. “… It is great to have these listening sessions and hear people’s opinions.
