Northern Wisconsin NORML is a regional chapter for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws and holds regular public monthly meetings on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 4:30 until approximately 7pm in the Harmony Cafe located at 223 E College Ave, Appleton. Fellowship hour is conducted downstairs as we gather, eat and chat; while the formal meeting starts at 5:30pm in the upstairs third floor meeting room (meetings are also broadcast via Google Hangouts). The chapter and members also conduct outreach meetings throughout the state, host an annual 420 concert,  a potluck picnic and fishing clinic the first weekend in June, impromptu rallies, protests and marches, along with attending statewide awareness events.

Northern Wisconsin NORML’s mission is to educate and move public opinion sufficiently to achieve the repeal of marijuana prohibition, so that the responsible use of cannabis by adults is no longer subject to penalty.  We have a unique style and a variety of opportunities available to support to our growing member base, thanks to donations like yours!

We thank you for your continued support and donations.

Wisconsin Legislature on Medical Marijuana Measure AB 475 / SB 371 needs your help, please contact elected officials and committee members

NORML working reform 1970 Wisconsin Legislature on Medical Marijuana Measure AB 475 / SB 371 needs your help, please contact elected officials and committee members

National NORML

Urge Your Elected Officials to Support AB 475 / SB 371, The 2011-2012 Wisconsin Medicinal Cannabis Act!

Legislation that seeks to legalize the physician-supervised use of medical cannabis has been reintroduced into both chambers of the Wisconsin legislature.

Assembly Bill 475 and Senate Bill 371 would amend state law to “authorize an individual to use marijuana for medical purposes as directed by a physician.” The proposed legislation would allow for authorized patients to obtain their marijuana from state-licensed distribution centers. Qualified patients would also be permitted under the law to possess up to 12 plants and three ounces of usable marijuana.

AB 475 has been referred to the House Committee on Health. SB 371 has been referred to the Senate Committee on Health. Neither bill has been scheduled for a hearing.

Sixteen states — Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington — in addition to the District of Columbia have enacted laws protecting medical marijuana patients from state prosecution. There is no legitimate reason why Wisconsin patients should not enjoy these same legal protections.

Please urge your member of the House and Senate to support this legislation by visiting NORML’s Take Action Center here:

Or Print Your Own Wisconsin Medical Cannabis signature forms from the Northern Wisconsin NORML website.

Want to see LEAP question Obama on legalizing marijuana?

by Jay on January 27th, 2012 at 8:29 PM

In an ongoing effort by the White House to engage the public via the internet, President Obama will answer questions from YouTube users in his annual live-streaming town hall forum this Monday, January 30. LEAP speaker Stephen Downing poses this question to the president:

“As a retired LAPD deputy police chief with 20 years experience, I saw the failure of our country’s drug policies. Polls say more Americans now support legalizing marijuana than support prohibition. What do you say to this growing voter constituency?”

To vote, please visit http://www.youtube.com/whitehouse and search for ‘LAPD’ in the search box on the right side to find Stephen Downing’s question. You must be logged in to YouTube or Google in order to vote. Voting ends Saturday, January 28 at midnight EST.

Last year, LEAP’s question was voted the number-one question for the president, and President Obama responded that legalization is “an entirely legitmate topic for debate.” Since then, his actions have been in conflict with his rhetoric – and in conflict with what American voters want. Help LEAP ask Obama to address the nation on marijuana legalization - please vote now! And ask your friends to vote by posting the link, with voting instructions, on Facebook and Twitter.
